The Bauhaus Dessau Foundation launched the competition for the new Bauhaus Museum as an open international architectural competition. The exhibition, starting at 30th October 2015 shows all 831 international entries until 31 January 2016.
The Bauhaus Design School has always been an incubator of innovative ideas and an international place. That was the reason why the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation (SBD) deliberately decided to launch the competition for the new Bauhaus Museum – scheduled for opening on the occasion of the centenary of the Bauhaus in 2019 – as an open international architectural competition.
The competition was held in two phases and attracted 831 international entries. The panel of jurors awarded two first prizes (Gonzalez Hinz Zabala, Barcelona/Spain and Young & Ayata, New York/USA) as well as prizes 3 (Berrel Kräutler AG, Zürich/Switzerland) and 4 (Ja Architecture Studio, Toronto/Canada). In addition, three special mentions were announced.
The exhibition will display the prize-winning architectural designs, including plans and models, and all other entries.
