A drawing is an event site. Drawing Performance explores the rhythm and routine of defining boundary, tracing movement or picturing thought. Visually humble, there is a formal directness to much of the work in this exhibition. In fact, the attitude of some drawings parallels absent minded actions carried out when bored or preoccupied, such as doodling while talking on the phone or re–tracing one’s signature to get it just right. Additionally, the media in this exhibition is purposefully expansive and includes ball–point pen, dance, video, as well as the use of tracing paper and other readymade, printed material. Three basic concepts serve as an organizing structure for this project; these are surface, activity and registration.
